Which calculation do these Kandy prayer times use?
They are taken directly from the published timetable of the All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama (ACJU), the recognised body of Islamic scholars in Sri Lanka. ACJU already applies its own per-district adjustments, and Asr follows the Shafi'i shadow ratio used by most mosques in Sri Lanka, so no further correction is needed for Kandy.
Do these times apply to Katugastota and nearby areas?
Yes. The ACJU timetable for Kandy is used across the district, including Katugastota, Peradeniya, Gampola, Akurana, Digana. Differences within a district are under a minute, so the same times are followed by mosques throughout the area.
Is the azan time the same as the jamaath time in Kandy?
No. The times on this page are azan times — the moment each prayer window begins. Mosques in Kandy usually call the congregation (jamaath) a set number of minutes afterwards, and that gap differs from mosque to mosque, so check with your local masjid for its jamaath schedule.
